Whistler 2025

Last year we celebrated my 30th birthday in Whistler (you can read about that here). This time, it was Corban’s turn to hit the big 3-0. Since getting away in April can be tricky, we decided to combine our birthday celebrations into one summer adventure instead.

We kicked off our trip on a Thursday this year, making our first stop in Bellingham for some incredible food truck sandwiches at New Public. While Corban hopped on a work meeting at Marine Park, I bundled up against the chill, did a little people-watching, and enjoyed the chance to stretch my legs.

We finished the drive and checked into our Airbnb, which was in a different building than last year’s stay. This one had a huge outdoor space — a total win that we ended up using all the time. The property also had a pool, hot tub, and sauna (though we never got around to the sauna), plus incredible sunset views that made it hard to leave.

Thankfully, we were able to check in earlier than we did last year, so we grabbed dinner at Amsterdam Cafe Pub, which was really good. Afterward, we took an evening walk up the Blackcomb side near the Four Seasons, made a quick grocery stop, and then headed back to unwind in the hot tub.

On Friday, we grabbed breakfast at Mogul’s before heading off to do our own thing for the day. I spent most of the day at the Scandinave Spa, and honestly—it was incredible. I started with a massage and then spent hours rotating between hot pools, cold plunges, and cozy rest areas. It felt so luxurious and peaceful. I’d been a little nervous about going solo and having to unplug completely (no talking or tech allowed), but it turned out to be one of the best parts of the trip. I still think about it every week! All of these photos are from the resort website since phones aren’t allowed inside the spa. The second picture shows the custom-made wooden zero-gravity chairs — hands down the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in!

While I was at the spa, Corban spent the day at the Whistler Bike Park — something he’d been wanting to do since last year. This was his big 30th birthday adventure! He went all in with a full-day pass, rental, and lesson, and absolutely loved it. The rental (especially the full-face helmet) was totally worth it. We met up around 1 pm for lunch at Black’s Pub at the base of Whistler, then he headed back out for a few more runs while I relaxed on the balcony, reading and painting my nails.

That evening, we went for a bike ride around the golf course — probably an ambitious choice considering Corban had already spent most of the day biking! For dinner, we grabbed tacos from Tacos La Cantina, then took a short walk behind our condo and stopped at Peaked Pies on the way back. We ended the night with another hot tub soak — because if there’s a hot tub available, I’m using it every day!

We had absolutely no plans for Saturday, so when we woke up, we decided it was the perfect day to ride the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. It was a total spur-of-the-moment decision — we bought our tickets while grabbing coffee and breakfast at Mogul’s — and it ended up turning into a full-day adventure.

We tackled all of the hikes on the Blackcomb side, covering about 6.75 miles with nearly 2,000 feet of elevation gain. The views were incredible, and the Chairlift to the Top of the World (included with the ticket) was absolutely worth it — just note that the ride down takes a bit longer since capacity is cut in half.

After a quick snack at the visitor center at the top of Blackcomb, we took the gondola over to the Whistler side, explored a bit, rode the Top of the World Gondola, and then headed back down the mountain. We stopped by our unit to change and catch our breath before dinner at Hunter Gather, one of our favorites from last year. By the time we finished, we were completely wiped from all the hiking — so we wrapped up the night the best way possible: with a hot tub soak and an early bedtime.

On our last morning, we made one final stop at Mogul’s (of course!) before biking around Lost Lake and Green Lake, exploring a few side trails along the way.

We love Whistler and are already thinking about bringing the kids next year. It’s the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure — super walkable, packed with great vegan food, and thanks to the exchange rate, surprisingly affordable. It’s just such an easy, fun place to be!
